ABOUT

Origin Story

Dr. Rebecca Provorse grew up in rural northern California and spent her adolescence wandering the hills, vineyards and orchards of Sonoma, Mendocino, and Lake counties. Her innate wonder at the natural world became woven into her love of science and medicine.

Professional Education

Dr. Provorse completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Oregon, pre-med in Biology. As part of a mentorship program, she was able to shadow local physicians and observe professional practices. It was during this time she learned of the resonant functional medicine practice called Naturopathy, in whose principles the following can be found:

  • The Healing Power of Nature (Vis Medicatrix Naturae): an inherent self-healing process in people that is ordered and intelligent.
  • Identify and Treat the Causes (Tolle Causam): a drive to identify and remove the underlying causes of illness rather than to merely eliminate or suppress symptoms.
  • First Do No Harm (Primum Non Nocere): acknowledge, respect, and work with individuals’ self-healing process using methods which minimize the risk of harmful side effects and avoiding—when possible—the harmful suppression of symptoms.
  • Doctor as Teacher (Docere): educating their patients and encouraging self-responsibility for health, NDs also recognize and employ the therapeutic potential of the doctor-patient relationship.
  • Treat the Whole Person: treating each patient by taking into account individual physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental, social, and other factors.
  • Prevention: the emphasis on prevention of disease by having a model for health.  Then, assessing risk factors, heredity and susceptibility, and making appropriate interventions in partnership with patients to prevent illness.

At the University of Natural Medicine, Dr. Provorse studied both naturopathic and Chinese Medicines. In the former program, she engaged most deeply in botanical medicine and women's health, doing a three-year rotation in that speciality.

Immediately following medical school, Dr. Provorse worked with a women’s healthcare specialist, learning bioidentical hormone replacement therapies. She then studied rhythmic hormone replacement and became the first provider in the state of Oregon to be certified in the Wiley Protocol™.  Dr. Provorse served three years as a member of the Women’s Hormone Network (WHN) board of directors and currently sits on their clinical advisory team.

Dr. Provorse maintains active and current licenses with the Oregon Medical Board (OBME), the Oregon Board of Naturopathic Medicine (OBNM), Washington State Department of Health and the California Board of Naturopathic Medicine. She has been licensed and worked in the state of Hawaii as well.

Dr. Provorse is a member of the Oregon Association of Naturopathic Physicians (OANP) and the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP) and has enrolled with the Endocrinology Association of Naturopathic Physicians (EndoANP).

As part of her practice, Dr. Provorse stays at the forefront of discovery in the medical field through continuing education and trainings. She is dedicated to advancing her knowledge and skills in the areas of herbal medicine, endocrinology, cardiology, gastroenterology, and  application of personalized medicine through the interpretation of genetic polymorphisms.

Clinical Experience

Dr. Provorse served patients in private practice from 2005-2020; in 2020, she transitioned patient care to a telemedicine format where she continues to offer high-level healthcare and peer-mentoring.  As of 2026, she now see patients both online and in-person.
